Minister’s Remarks at the Ceremony to Launch the Website
Not only will the vision and ministry initiatives be articulated on the website, but users will have the opportunity to give feedback, ask questions or make comments on these.
This Website seeks to promote and support our goal to facilitate lifelong learning for all, as it now makes the resources of the ministry accessible at the click of the mouse.
The Website is designed to cater for the entire community. There is something for parents, for teachers for private sector, visitors to the Federation, regional and international organizations and of course there is much for the students of any and every age. This website is a proactive step in addressing our evolving student population. Learners today prefer to work at their own pace and it is well documented that individualised instruction is most effective. Many persons today pursue online qualifications; as they want to work at their own pace, or because of finances, these opportunities will be supported through the Ministry’s website. More opportunities to promote excellence will therefore be available through the website. The website therefore promotes the involvement of the entire community. We want everybody to get something whenever they log on to the Ministry’s website and for those who what to contribute, that opportunity is also made available. Best practices propose that the process of education is most effective when the entire community is involved. As we seek to address the many issues that we face today; violence in schools, drop out rates, the male student crisis we want to partner with the community in addressing these. Even now as we continue in the process of addressing the Education Green Paper this website is a step to continue such a dialogue with the entire population as we seek to be more accessible to the public. I invite you therefore to log on to www.moeskn.org be involved, informed and educated.
